CENTRAL EUROPE is a European Union programme that encourages cooperation between
countries in Central Europe in order to improve innovation, accessibility and the
environment and to enhance the competitiveness and attractiveness of their cities
and regions.
CENTRAL EUROPE invests € 231 million funding transnational cooperation projects
involving public and private organisations in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany,
Hungary, Italy, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia. The programme is funded
by the European Regional Development Fund and runs from 2007 to 2013.
CENTRAL EUROPE provides funding for cooperation projects in four areas:
Priority 1: Facilitating innovation across Central Europe Priority 2: Improving
accessibility to and within Central Europe Priority 3: Responsible use of the environment
Priority 4: Enhancing competitiveness and attractiveness of cities and regions
In particular, the project “LISTEN TO THE VOICES OF THE VILLAGES” is promoted by
Priority 4. Projects included within this priority will aim to improve the quality
of life in cities and regions and promote sustainable urban development. They will
support polycentric development to avoid disparity in urban areas due to social
and spatial segregation and will address demographic and social change, as well
as the protection, preservation and exploitation of cultural resources.
