LP - Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy)

Trentino is a small province in northern Italy: covering a surface area of 6,000 km² and with less than 500,000 inhabitants, it represents only 2% of Italy's total surface area and less than 1% of the country's population. The population density is 80 people per square kilometre, significantly lower than the Italian average (194). The province has few towns: Trento is the main city, with 111,042 inhabitants, while the second largest is Rovereto, with 35,518. However, there are many small villages. The landscape is characterised by mountains, forests and agricultural areas and most of the population is found in these outlying parts of the province.

The Autonomous Province of Trento, together with the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, makes up the Trentino - Alto Adige Region. Both the Trentino – Alto Adige Region and the two provinces of Trento and Bolzano (a unique example in Italy) are granted special autonomy by Italian law and the Special Autonomy Statute has been approved as constitutional law. The autonomy recognised by the Special Statute involves political, legislative, administrative and financial autonomy. The provincial department for research and innovation is in charge of the general implementation of provincial policy guidelines aiming at enhancing innovation and knowledge development and transfer, as key factors for the socio-economic growth and international competitiveness of the province. The department also has a specific division for European Affairs and Local Development which is responsible for planning and coordinating all activities related to the implementation of projects co-funded through the European Regional Development Fund and other European cooperation programmes. This division is responsible for the regional administrative coordination of the LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF THE VILLAGES project . The Province has been involved in more than 30 projects funded through the ERDF fund in the last 10 years.

BUDGET: 456,750.00 €, 75% co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
