The Litija Development Centre has 7 years' experience in local and regional development
in central Slovenia. The key fields of work are in rural areas, tourism and entrepreneurship
development. The team is made up of 8 experts with different profiles in project
management, R&D, marketing, business counselling, etc. and we also cooperate with
various external experts during projects. Moreover, the Centre is the coordinator
of the central Slovenia sub-region (development partnership for central Slovenia)
and manager of the local action group Heart of Slovenia for the LEADER programme.
LDC is also the initiator of the regional brand “Srce Slovenije” (Heart of Slovenia)
which acts as a basis for future tourist development. The organisation responsible
for marketing the brand is the Jarina cooperative, which is a close partner of LDC.
It has legal status as a public equivalent body (non-profit-making limited liability
company established by the Litija municipality). The Litija Development Centre's
key cooperation projects in the field of reference are:
- project partner in Interreg III B Alpine Space project “RegioMarket“ (optimising
regional brands and marketing in Alpine Space in 3 sectors: food, tourism, renewable
energy), March 2006-March 2008
- project participant in “Knocking on the heritage door” (regional project dealing
with heritage), started in 2008 Furthermore, the Centre has initiated and implemented
many local and regional projects dealing with tourist products, networking of tourist
operators, promotional activities, ICT in rural areas, youth and entrepreneurship,
different training programmes etc.
